Religious and Civic Organizations pages re-populated

Written by Michael (admin)

I've created a page of "web links" for the Religious Organizations in town.  Each link has a small blurb about the organization, taken from their web site.  If you click on their link, you'll go directly to their site.  Check it out!  I've also begun to re-populate the listing of Civic and other Non-profit Organizations in town, as well as redirect old search engines' saved links to direct to this new page.

If you know of any groups who should be listed, or spot a correction that should be made, please let us know via the Contact form link in the site "footer".  Thank you.

Also, we have a new item in the Resource Menu, called "Good Eats!".  (Yes, it's a borrowing from the wonderful Alton Brown -- but not so much a "how to" as a "where can I find?")  This will be our place to log testamonials and reviews of great places to eat in and around town.  Please send us your ideas and comments.

UPDATE: it's been renamed to Food and Dining -- I figured I didn't want to mess with a trademark of the venerable Alton.  Yesi t's not as spicy a menu name, but you get the idea.  (Hmm, should we have picked a more colorful phrase, say, "I'm Hungry!" ?

Would you like a webcam with that site?

Saturday, 26 July 2008 15:40

MANY many thanks to Phil Evangelos -- of "Phil's Barber Shop" fame -- who has kindly allowed me to set up a webcam from his store to look out on the rotary.  This is an experiment I'm running over the weekend.  It's on the Front Page of the site.  What do you think?

Imagine if we had cams that could allow you to, for example, see:

  • The Main Street bridge -- maybe from both sides?
  • Westbound Rte 30 traffic in the afternoon (just how backed up IS it?  CVS?  Flanders?  McDonalds!?!)
  • Rte 9 traffic (where would be a really helpful place to post a cam?)

Just a thought!

Feedback welcome.

Welcome to "Behind the scenes"

Or should I call this section, "the web designer tells all?"

Thanks for visiting this section of  As you have likely discerned, there's "not a lot" here yet on the site.  I wholeheartedly agree, and beg your patience for a few more weeks as we finalize the initial layout and start to pull in more content.  We also will be bringing over selected content from the prior website as you may remember it.   (Here's a view of it from July 2007, courtesy of the "Internet Archive".)

There is, however, quite a lot of movement going on "behind the scenes" -- thus the inspiration for starting up this blog.  If you're at all curious about what's going on, please vist this area where you may learn about the (often unseen!) activity and changes being made to the site.

Many thanks, and please feel free to drop us a line with questions or comments via the contact form.

Best wishes,
/Michael Hyde
